LOST Season 6 Episodes 17/18 "The End".... The Series Finale

"It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress." - Jacob

Those words spoken by the great Jacob were so very true all throughout this revolutionary television show during its 6-year run. Before I start my last ever LOST blog, here is a breakdown of how my own series finale blog is going to go down...

- Episode Build up
- Episode Recap: On the island
- Episode Recap: Flash-Sideways
- My analysis of the episode and entire series
- Some writing on all my friends who were with me on this journey the past 6 years
- Final Thoughts

Episode Build Up:

I enjoyed watching the 2-hr pre-show because I enjoy watching the cast talk to the camera "out of character." Seeing all of them appear on all the late-shows talking about the finale was also very entertaining enough though they couldnt tell us anything, except for Hurley who told us on Lopez Tonight that he was hoisting people over a waterfall at 430 in the morning. I hope the
producers didnt care that he said that because it actually happened. I also enjoyed watching the pilot episode the night before, and knew that the finale would have a lot of tie-ins with the pilot. So Sunday Night I sat down, watched the pre-show and then realized that the time had arrived... 9pm on Sunday May 23rd had finally arrived and we were all about to be taken on a 150 minute series finale roller coaster. Here we go...

Episode Recap: On the island

The episode kicked off with good old Christian Shepard being delivered to a church, right off the bat I knew he was going to figure heavily into the end of the episode. Next we have two groups of people heading for the heart of the island... one to destroy it(Locke/MIB and Ben), one to protect it (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley). Meanwhile we have a third group of people who are heading out to the Ajira plane(Richard, Miles, and a still alive Lapidus). I love how Lapidus stayed alive no matter what because he was the only one who could fly a plane.

Anyway, Jack and Locke/MIB meet up and threaten each other for a while and eventually team up to help Desmond go down to the bottom of the cave of light. With each trying to prove the other wrong Desmond pulls the cork out of the heart of the island and the light goes out. Thanks to all of those years of pressing the button in the hatch, Desmond is the only one who can do this because he is nearly immune to the electromagnetism at the bottom of the cave. So the cork gets pulled and it looked like hell was going to shoot up through the island. The island starts to crumble and sink little by little just like Locke/MIB thought it would do. However, what Locke/MIB didnt plan on was the side effect of him now being mortal again and able to be killed.

Locke/MIB and Jack eventually have their long-awaited battle and Jack ends up getting mortally wounded by Locke/MIB's dagger. Kate saves Jack's life and shoots Locke/MIB in the back and Jack kicks him off the cliff. The enemy had finally been defeated, but at a very serious cost for Jack. Jack tells Kate and Sawyer that they must find the Ajira Plane and leave the island for good. Kate and Jack share a heartfelt moment knowing that it will be the last time they ever see each other. Jack tells Kate that he loves her then tells her to find Claire and leave the island.

After everything that has happened to Jack, he is now ready to die in order to save the island. So Jack goes back to the cave and realizing that this could be it for him, he tells Hurley that he has to be the one who protects the island now. Hurley is reluctant at first but eventually accepts the job as the new Jacob. With Hurley still unsure about how to run the island, he asks Ben if he wants to be Hurley's "number 2." Ben gladly accepts and tells Hurley that he can make all new rules for the island now that he is in charge. Obviously Jacob had rules that no babies could be born on the island and people could not come and go as they wish to the island.

Jack gets down to the bottom of the cave and finds Desmond and tells him that he fulfilled his destiny and now needs to leave the island and go back to his family on the mainland. Jack then puts the cork back into the heart of the island and restores the pool of water and the light.

Kate, Sawyer, and Claire meet up on the Ajira plane with Lapidus, Richard, and Ben. After a lot of drama the plane successfully gets off the ground and the six of them head home.

After restoring the island and stopping it from sinking, Jack stumbles back to the spot where he
originally woke up in the first episode after Oceanic Flight 815's crash. Severely injured by the Man in Black, Jack falls to the ground in the bamboo fields and is joined by Vincent the Dog who also encountered Jack in the pilot episode in the same spot. Jack looks up to the sky with Vincent laying next him and sees his friends leaving the island on the Ajira plane, forcing him to crack one last smile. Jack opened his eyes in the first episode to start our journey, and he closed his eyes in the final episode to end our journey.

Episode Recap: Flash-Sideways

In the beginning of the flash-sideways Desmond continues his role as God in reuniting all the Losties. One by one all of the Losties begin to recognize one another due to encounters with people or objects that were important to them during their time on the island.

Eventually most of them are drawn to the church that was to be the site of Jack's father's funeral. Locke regains the use of his legs after being successfully operated on by Jack. He then meets Ben outside the church where Locke forgives him for murdering him. Ben then meets Hurley, who says everyone is inside, motioning him to join them, but Ben elects to stay outside. I think Ben never felt that he made a real connection with that group and could presumably be waiting for his daughter Alex to join him. As Hurley heads back inside, he says to Ben that he was a "...real good number two...", to which Ben replies back that Hurley was a "...great number one". Kate arrives with Jack and instructs him to enter through the back of the church, where he comes upon his father's coffin. The coffin acts as the catalyst for Jack's memories after earlier contact with Locke and Kate met with resistance on his part to believe his visions.

Jack was the last one to realize these memories, because he was always the stubborn one in real life who had trouble letting go of things and moving on. Jack then discovers the coffin to be empty, and his Dad appears behind him. Jack then realizes that he had died, and is emotionally embraced by his father, who reassures him that the people Jack has met and the events leading up until now not only happened, but the time he spent with the people on the island was "the most important period" of his life. Christian then states time has no meaning in this place and that they "made" this place to "find each other", independent of the time at which they died, so they could "move on to the next phase" together. All of the Losties died at different points in life, but none of them could move on until they did it together. Jack and Christian go out into the church to meet the others. All our original Losties are out there except for the ones who have badly sinned in their lives. We found out a few episodes back from Michael that they are stuck on the island as whisperer's.

Here is a list of all the couples who were together in the church....

Jack and Kate
Sawyer and Juliet
Desmond and Penny
Charlie and Claire
Sayid and Shannon
Hurley and Libby
Sun and Jin
Rose and Bernard

John Locke realized where he was once he began to walk again and the man of faith was in his rightful place. Boone was also alone but took satisfaction in helping his sister, Shannon, find Sayid.

All the reunions take place and everyone exchanges hugs and kisses. They then all sit down and watch Christian walk down the aisle to open up the doors to the church to let the bright light in. The characters were all united again and finally able to move on to the next phase. The church scene and the Jack dying scene took place simultaneously on the show and our final image of the entire series was Dr. Jack Shepard closing his eyes and closing the book on one of the greatest TV series of all-time.

My Analysis of the Finale and Entire Series:

Though we wont be shown any more of their adventure, the adventure isn't over. Its up to our imagination to fill in whatever form their story takes from now on. Every single question in the series was not answered, but I think that was for the best. There will forever be debate over this series and the legacy of this show will never be forgotten.

The heart and soul of LOST from Day 1 has been 'character development.' Ever since the third episode we have been shown flashbacks, flash-forwards, etc. of all of our characters and the biggest reason for LOST's success has been the audience being able to identify with each character on the show. Their lives became our lives.

The other main element to this series was redemption. As Jacob told us, all the Losties were chosen because they were flawed and looking for a better place. They all got a 2nd chance in life and they all successfully redeemed themselves on the island in one way or another. This redemption led to the happy ending that they all deserved.

Right after the finale was over there seemed to have been a lot of confusion over when exactly the Losties died. A lot of people were saying they died in the original 815 plane crash and were very upset because they were told the island was real and not purgatory. However, this is not the case. Everything that happened to our characters was very real and Christian even told us that when he said, "Jack everything that happened to you was very real." The flash-sideways turned out to be a place that all of our Losties created for themselves in order to wait for each other after they had died. They all had to find each other and realize that they were dead before they could move on together. Christian Shepard also tells Jack that some people died before him and some died after him. We saw the deaths of Shannon, Sun, Jin, Charlie, Jack, etc. on the island... and are left to assume that the rest eventually died of old age or something else. Hurley and Ben also tell each other that they were good number 1 and number 2's, so obviously all the island stuff was very real and happened to all of them. All these characters were together during their most important and happiest times of their lives. As i said, Ben never made a true connection with the Losties so he was present at the church but never went in. Eloise and Faraday were not the happiest on the island for obvious reasons so they werent there. Richard was happier when he was with his wife Isabella. And Miles, Lapidus, and Charlotte spent only minor time on the island.
The entire point of the flash-sideways was that it acted as limbo and showed us the characters journey to find each other and move on to a better place... together.

Before I get to shouting out to all my LOST friends, I just wanna throw out props to all the cast, crews, directors, producers, and writers of this show. The acting during all 6 seasons was fantastic, and to think that all of these actors and actresses were plucked out of nowhere before this show. Very few of these characters were ever heard from before LOST, and now they will probably forever be most famous for being a cast member of LOST. Congrats to all of you on a spectacular six year run.

To All My Friends Who Were With Me on This Journey During the Last 6 Years...

Some of you have been there since episode one, some of you picked up the show along the way, and some of you were recruited by me after I transferred to Ohio University. No matter how we started watching LOST you all were there with me every week for the past 6 years. You all have watched episodes with me, read my thoughts on my blog, and talked with me about all the mysterious. These past few months I have received a record number of readers on my blog and I thank all of you for all of your support for me and this great show. While it was obviously impossible to watch every single episode together, we always made time to watch each season's finale together....

Season 1 Finale- watched with everyone in Mike Gett's basement
Season 2 Finale- watched with everyone in my basement
Season 3 Finale- watched with my OU friends at Sara Normand's apartment
Season 4 Finale- watched at Sara Normand/Michelle Munoz house (along w/the entire season)
Season 5 Finale- watched in my basement with everyone
Season 6 Finale- watched w/entire family while keeping tabs w/everyone

Now its time to recognize all of my friends who have been with me during this journey. If I forgot anyone I am truly sorry and apologize.
(listed alphabetically by last name to avoid favoritism)

Skye Agnew- Even though we practically live in the same city, I never knew Skye until I went to OU. We started watching episodes together during Season 4 and she was there for pretty much every episode.

Matt Barnes- Never watched any episodes with Barnes, mainly because he was always so busy doing important stuff. But I always enjoyed hearing his opinions on each episode.

Luke Florence- Luke and I have more in common then just our love of LOST- We both write fantastic LOST related blogs. Before Season 6 started Luke put up a preview blog of LOST with everyone's thoughts and expectations for the upcoming season. It was tremendous. Luke was always solid in his opinions and for that im going to give his blog some publicity right now. Check him out at argumentking.blogspot.com

Mike Gett- watched 1 of the finale's in his basement, and discussed a lot of the early episodes with him until he went off the college at Miami. We have recently been talking heavily about the end of Season 6 and im sure he feels the same way as I do about how well the finale played out.

Mike Hallock- watched several finale's with Hallock and was usually annoyed by him talking during the show, but then again what doesnt annoy me when it comes to Hallock? All kidding aside, you could always find a LOST facebook status on Hallock's page during every episode. He was there every step of the way.

Kevin Hunt- one of Luke's best friends, Kevin showed up each week with Luke to watch LOST with us during my time at OU. The word LOUDNESS was really born out of Kevin's appreciation for the word at that moment. I couldnt hear the TV so I screamed LOUDNESS to get it turned up. Kevin laughed hysterically and really elevated my word into LOST fame. Some of you told me you still scream LOUDNESS before every episode even though im not there. Awesome.

Michelle Munoz- one of my favorite people ever to watch LOST with. I became friends with Michelle over this show and watched every episode I could with her. Her theories and interpretations of each episode was remarkable and I relied on her a lot when forming theories of my own.

Sara Normand- what can I really say about Sara? My best friend down at OU and one of the most genuine LOST fans Ive ever known. She didnt start watching the show until she met me, but I convinced her to get caught up immediately. She wasted little time and instantly started a LOST marathon and got caught up in record time. Ill never forget the night she said to me, "I cant believe you guys had to wait a week to watch each episode and over 7 months to watch the next season." She became a regular watcher of the show during Season 4 and we havent missed watching or discussing an episode together since then.

Jim Pasquine- the hardass of our LOST group. Like most of my friends at home we watched a lot of the early episodes together but then James went off to college and we kept in touch about the show for the rest of the time. I recently ran into James and talked to him about the finale while he was hulling mulch for some guy. See what I mean about hardass?

Don Somers- if there is one person out there whos dedication to this show matches mine, its Don. Don liked to focus on the emotional parts of LOST and all the relationships that went on. His favorite character was Charlie Pace and I remember talking to him the night after Charlie was killed off in the Season 3 finale. Now he is very fond of Desmond.

Ryan Wetzel- another one of the guys from home who I watched a lot of early episodes with then could only discuss episodes with once he went off to college in Akron. A few days ago we discussed what might happen in the series finale but Wetzel informed me he was a few episodes behind. Hopefully this kid got caught up cause id like to hear his opinion on the finale.

Adele Wright- ill never forget coming into 1st period band during our Senior year of High School the morning after a LOST episode and hearing Adele tell me how much she hated LOST. Thats pretty much the feeling everyone had with this show... they hated it so much, and they loved it so much at the same time. Adele and I spent hours talking about every episode that we could and its something we will always share.

Thank you too all of my friends for coming on this amazing journey with me the past 6 years and hopefully these write-ups helped you all remember all the times we spent together with this show as a big part of our lives.

Final Thoughts:

Never has anything impacted me in my life as much as this show did for the past 6 years. Executive Producer Damon Lindelof tweeted his last ever LOST related tweet immediately after the finale had aired.....
"Remember. Let Go. Move on. I will miss it more than I can ever say."

So much meaning and emotion behind those words, and that phrase sums up the message they were telling us in the show and the message he is telling us in real life. Thank you Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for a fantastic job producing LOST.

As I write my last ever comments on LOST its really starting to hit me now that this is it. Its all over. Ill never blog about this show again. Ill never watch another new episode. Ill never wake up in the morning and wonder whats going to happen next. Its extremely depressing, but hopefully the discussion and debate will continue forever.

*Thank you to everyone who has been associated with me and this show over the past 6 years, and I hope you have all treasured the memories like I have....

LOST Series Finale Preview

The End has arrived. This Sunday is going to be one of the biggest emotional roller coasters I have ever been on in my entire life. It is going to be the greatest and yet the worst day of my life. All of these emotions will come pouring out during the 4.5 hour long series finale of LOST starting at 7pm this Sunday.

LOST Sunday schedule:

7-9pm: LOST: The Final Journey- a pre-show that chronicles the entire series thus far, and has exclusive interviews with members of the cast and a look at how LOST has influenced society over the last 6 years

9-11:30pm- The Series Finale. Titled- "The End"... be prepared for monster ratings, emmy award winning acting, directing, and writing... and one of the best 2.5 hours ever on Television.

12-1am- Jimmy Kimmel Live "Aloha to LOST"- all the cast and crew will be on Jimmy Kimmel together for the last time... this may be the last time we ever see our Losties together so it will be a fantastic show

Theories for the finale:

1. I think Locke now knows that he can get Desmond to destroy the island for him. The way I think hes going to try is by making Desmond go down to the bottom of the tunnel of light and put it out. As we saw in the episode "Across the Sea," MIB was thrown down there by Jacob, and because of the electromagnetism down there his soul separated from his body and he became the smoke monster. I think after talking to Widmore, that MIB/Locke now knows that Desmond is immune to the magnetism and Desmond can freely go down to the bottom of the tunnel and do the deed that MIB/Locke wants done.

2. I think Ben may become the new Smoke Monster. If anything happens to MIB (killed or leaves) Ben has been told by MIB/Locke that he can rule the entire island. It would be interesting to see if we see a scene similar to the Season 5 finale with MIB and Jacob talking on the beach, only now it would be Jack and Ben?

3. We have seen all our characters look into mirrors during the alternate time lines this season. Im wondering if that has anything to do with how the time lines will merge, if they merge?
Jack has seen blood on his neck on more than one occasion, im wondering if this is because Jack is the only one who wont die on the island because he is now Jacob, and the rest of our characters will die and will bleed over into there alternate time lines.

4. I think all of our Losties are on the island for redemption. In order to redeem themselves for the things that they have done wrong in there lives, they have to stop MIB/Locke from accomplishing his goals and ultimately eliminate him. I think they might all get the job done but might die in the process. If they can and are willing to die in order to protect the island then I think they will move over to the alternate time line and live out there "happy" lives in that universe. Our Losties are given a second chance in life, and we will find out if they make the most of it.

Questions remaining for the finale:
1. Will the island sink in the real time line? If not, how did it sink in the alternate time line?
2. Why couldn't MIB change bodies after going into Locke's body?
3. What exactly is Desmond's plan in the alternate time line?
4. How will the two time line's merge?
5. Will we have a new Smoke Monster?

So it all comes down to this. After 6 years of waking up each morning with LOST questions and theories on my mind. After 6 years of blog writing, article reading, episode watching, and episode discussing... it all comes down to this. One last episode in a show that I have invested over 6 years of my life in. I have been there through the highs, the lows, the good episodes, and the great ones. Sunday the entire journey comes to an end.

I will obviously be watching LIVE all night so anyone who wants to communicate with me during the episode feel free too, BUT ONLY DURING THE COMMERCIALS!!! Thanks.

I will be writing one more blog after the series finale and I hope that I have plenty to write about. Until next time, thank you to everyone who has read my LOST blog this year... I have received a record number of viewers on my blog during these past few months and I thank you all for the support thus far. I will have a shout out to all of my LOST friends in my post-finale blog on Monday. Until next time....

BASIC KNOWLEDGE and LOUDNESS..........

LOST Season 6 Episode 16 "What They Died For"

Really great episode filled with old school themes and fantastic quotes. I knew it was going to be an episode to set up the finale, and it left us with a lot of questions as we head into Sunday's huge finale.

Deaths occurring in this episode:

Zoe- via throat slash from MIB/Locke
Widmore- via gunshot to chest by Ben
Richard?- possible death by Smoke Monster

It was fantastic to see Ben back to the old Ben, and it wouldnt surprise me at all if Ben was to somehow become the next Smoke Monster after MIB leaves or is killed.

The scene between Jacob and the main 4 Losties (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley) was a scene I thought would be reserved for the finale, but I guess they felt it was too obvious that Jack was going to take over as protector to include in the finale. It was a great way to end the last episode before the finale though.

At the end, we see Locke telling Ben that they need to find Desmond because he is the fail safe in case all the other candidates are dead. Now that Jack is the new Jacob, Locke needs Desmond to destroy the island.

This is going to be a short recap because above I am writing my Series Finale preview with theories and questions I hope get answered. Until next time....

LOST Season 6 Episode 15 "Across the Sea"

Okay so after I watched the episode I originally thought to myself that this was very interesting to see how Jacob and Man in Black (MIB) came to be. 'Mother' raised the two boys and eventually made Jacob the new protector of the island. However, after thinking about things over night I have come to realize something that may have made this episode ever better. What if 'Mother' wasnt trying to make Jacob replace her as the protector of the island, but instead she was trying to make MIB replace her as the Smoke Monster?!?!?!

Think about a few things here that support this....

In the beginning we see her evil side when she openly kills the original mother. Then Mother says she left the game of black/white stones on the beach for Jacob and MIB to play with each other. Right there she is trying to start a rivalry between the two boys.

Another scene is when Jacob and MIB original mother appears as a dead person, its actually their "mother" using her smoke monster abilities to appear as a dead person and manipulate MIB to go join the people down the hill.

This is also why Mother never wanted MIB to leave the island and always stopped him from doing so, because she needed him to take her place.

The biggest example of Mother being the Smoke Monster comes from how she put all the dirt back onto the well and massively killed the entire camp so quickly. The scene looked very similar to when Smokie killed all those people at the temple earlier this season.

Jacob complained about Mother loving MIB more, and she said that she loved them both differently. So Mother raised them to be rivals and used the light in the hole as the basis for this. She needed Jacob to throw MIB down there to become to smoke monster thats why she told Jacob to never go down there.

So when MIB kills Mother she says, "Thank You" because she now knows Jacob will see this and go into a rage. Jacob does just that and throws MIB into the light hole and MIB becomes the Smoke Monster.

It was great to see how Adam and Eve came to be, Mother and MIB. Awesome. Very smart to show Season 1 clips again to remind everyone of that scene from 6 years ago.

So in the end I believe that Mother's plan the entire time was to make MIB her replacement as the Smoke Monster. Did she still have the island's protection in mind? Maybe. Smokie could be the true security system of the island.

We know that Smokie/MIB still has the desire to leave the island today, but he cant leave as long as Jacob is alive. I think thats why Mother made Jacob into the man he was. Because as long as Jacob was alive, MIB could never leave the island and would be stuck as Smokie.

If this theory is true it makes me re-think the candidate list. Are those a list of candidates to replace Jacob or MIB? I still think its a list to replace Jacob because Jacob still wants MIB to stay on the island. Thats still a gray area for me, but hopefully the remaining episode clear it up. It would be an interesting twist if one of the candidates becomes the Smoke Monster because I think eventually Smokie will be stopped and killed.

Obviously we will find out very very shortly as we only have 210 minutes left of LOST. One episode next week 1-hr long. Then the 2.5 hour long finale from 9-1130pm on May 23.

Lots of questions still remain now, and next week will set up the finale. "What They Died For" airs next Tuesday at 9pm on ABC.... until next time....

LOST Season 6 Episode 14 "The Candidate

Okay so we have a lot to discuss after last night's episode. But first we have some news about the series finale. The series finale has been extended 30 minutes and will now air from 9-11:30pm with a 2-hr preview episode to air before it. And then Jimmy Kimmel Live immediately following the finale for a live cast party at 1130pm.

Right at the beginning we see that Jack tells Locke he is a "candidate".... for surgery. I had a feeling the title would be related like that because the last Locke episode was "the Substitute" and it literally referenced Locke being a substitute in the flash sideways.

Widmore says he has a list of the candidates and Kate is not on that list... later we find out that she is on the list but her name is crossed off. I thought the only way the names get crossed off is if they are dead. Maybe not? We do know that if your name is on the wall then MIB cannot kill you because he cannot kill the candidates (more on this later)

Jack runs into Bernard in the flash sideways and finds out that Bernard was on Oceanic 815 with him... it would be a recurring theme throughout the episode

Fake Locke tells Jack the plan to get everyone to the plane, but Jack says that he is not leaving the island... as Jack is now totally convinced that he is on the island for a reason and there is no way he is leaving EVER.

Back at the cages, Fake Locke turns back into Smokey and wipes out all of Widmore's people. Jack then lets them all out of the cages and they start to head to the Ajira plane.

We cut back to the flash sideways and see that Anthony Cooper is nothing more than a vegetable. I wonder how that happened... well Locke tells Jack that it happened because Locke was trying to be pilot and crashed the little plane that him and his dad were on. Locke blames himself for injuring his Dad and wont let him die because of the guilt.

Back on the island, we see a very ironic scene. Fake Locke kills 2 more people and takes one of the guy's watches... then takes dynamite off the plane as part of a secret master plan. He then tells the Losties that Widmore wants to get them all in a nice confined space where no one can escape and then he wants to kill them with dynamite. The irony here is that the plan is exactly how Fake Locke said, but it is in fact Fake Locke who plans to do that to the Losties and not Widmore. Hence the submarine fiasco... Jack was absolutely right when he said that they all did exactly what Fake Locke wanted them to do. He got them in a small space with no escape possibly and tried to kill them that way. However we know that Fake Locke CANT kill the candidates no matter what....

So this makes the submarine scene very interesting. Jack, knowing what he knows now, is sure that the bomb wont go off because he knows that Fake Locke cant kill them. However, Sawyer is being a hardass and wants to cut the wires... Jack asks Sawyer to trust him, but Sawyer doesnt listen because the last time Sawyer trusted Jack it led to the death of his Juliet.

So Sawyer cuts the wire (and this is the most crucial point of the entire episode), because Sawyer cut the wires it will now be Sawyer who sets the bomb off and will be Sawyer's fault if they die. Jack was absolutely right again when he said that Fake Locke was trying to get them to kill each other because as I said, Fake Locke/MIB cannot kill them. So Sawyer cuts the wire and now they are all vulnerable to death. Sayid realizes this and comes out of his 'claimed coma' and gives his life to save Jack. Before he runs away he tells Jack "you are the one"... which im pretty sure means that he is going to be THE CANDIDATE. So a bunch of chaos goes on and it results in the death of Lapidus, Sayid, Sun, and Jin. A very good ending for Jin and Sun, they finally get back together and it was all just to die in each others arms. They had a good run and truly made an impact on this show over six seasons.

I think I now know exactly what Fake Locke is trying to do. He needs all of the candidates to be dead in order for him to leave, he has been lying by saying they all had to be together to leave the island. He needs them dead, but he CANT kill them so he needs someone else to do it much like he couldnt kill Jacob. *** If no one is left to take Jacob's place, Fake Locke/MIB is finally free to leave the island. Fake Locke somehow realizes that not everyone died on the submarine and takes off to find them.

I also think Fake Locke is keeping Claire around because his backup plan is to try and get Claire to kill the candidates since he cannot.

One final quick note from the flash sideways: I have noticed that every flash sideways character has looked into a mirror at some point. It happened again last night with Jack and Claire looking together through the little mirror in the box that Claire received in the will from Christian Shep.

Tonight we also heard Sayid tell Jack that Desmond was still in the well and was alive. Sayid said that Desmond was important otherwise Fake Locke wouldnt have wanted him killed. I now think that Desmond is going to show them all that they have constant's in the other universe. I think they may all die in the season finale and move over to their other universe lives because they all have constant's over there. The only one who seems to not have anyone in their lives in the flash sideways is Kate. Kate is running from everyone and everything and has nothing to hold onto in each timeline. So could that mean that in the real timeline everyone will die move over to their true life in the flash sideways except for Kate?... which would mean Kate would be the only one who doesnt go to the flash sideways, so she would be the only one left on the island...... making her the one who is the next protector of the island???? I know her name has been crossed off but you just never know. It would explain how our two universes come together and who the next protector would be. I think the Losties are on the island in order to kill MIB/Fake Locke/Smokey and once they do that then they can leave or die- and once that happens they will have the redemption they had been seeking and can move over to their rightful lives in the flash sideways where it seems all of them are happier.

It was so good to feel intense drama and actual shocking moments again, we havent seen true madness and heart pounding moments like that all season. Its gonna keep going from there, as next week's episode is called "Across the Sea" and will focus again on the Man in Black and Jacob. This is being hyped as one of the most answer filled episodes of the entire series, so I cannot wait.

I think that the kid we have seen appearing out of nowhere in the jungle are Jacob and MIB. We saw a kid with blonde hair and a kid with black so I think they are Jacob and MIB in kid form. I have a few other questions that I want to get answered next week........

Are Jacob and MIB related?
How did they end up on the island?
How did Jacob end up as protector of the island?
What happened to make MIB the smoke monster?
What started this whole 'game' between them two?

Hopefully we get some answers to these questions, as the last time we had a MIB/Jacob episode it was the highest rated episode in the history of LOST according to the fans. "Across the Sea" airs next Tuesday @ 9pm on ABC. Until next time......

LOST Season 6 Episode 13 "The Last Recruit"

This is going to be the last blog I write without my laptop, since next week is a repeat episode I will definitely have my blog back in time for Ep. 14- The Candidiate. But as for this week here is my recap for Ep. 13- The Last Recruit.

In the opening scene we see Sun and Locke going to hospital at the same time. Sun sees Locke and immediately starts yelling "Its Him, Its Him!" Im pretty sure this is from Sun having her island vision as a result of the tragic experience of being shot. So she is recalling herself being on the island and knowing the Locke is Smokey, so she is scared and yelling "Its Him, Its Him!"

Jack and Claire find out that they are half bro and sis thanks to Christian who is now dead. Jack is called into surgery---on Locke--- and says he will continue the meeting later.

Back on the island, we see Locke(Smokey) tell Jack that he did in fact that the form of his dead father on the island. Which pretty much confirms most of the theory's that ive had over the past 3 yrs about turning the wheel, Jacob's cabin, and MIB's plan to kill Jacob, so that was very rewarding for me.

Locke(Smokey) arranges a plan for his whole camp to march through the woods and go to Hydra Island to fly away on the plane. However, Sawyer has other ideas and gets all his original people to take a boat over to Widmore and basically screw over Locke(Smokey). Claire ends up joining against the will of everyone except for Kate- whos soul purpose for returning to the island was to reunite Claire with Aaron. Eventually Jack says that he cannot leave the island and dives into the water and back to Locke(Smokey).

When Sawyer's people get back to Widmore he has them cuffed and taken away. Obviously plans have changed for Widmore who is going back on his original deal with Sawyer when he said that him and his friends can leave on the submarine.

The big mystery this week is what did Sayid do with Desmond? Desmond asked Sayid what he would tell Nadia he did to be back with her again. Sayid seemed to have broken down at that point maybe voiding himself of the emotionless state that Smokey had put him in. Once again the love connection comes into play here and is going to be a major thing in the last few episodes. So did Sayid shoot Desmond? Probably not. Did he help him escape? OR did he just leave him there for Locke(Smokey) to deal with?

The Sun and Jin reunion was decent. I was expecting more out of a reunion that they made us wait over an entire season to see. Terrible place for them to reunite too, how many people thought Sun was gonna get zapped by the electric fence before hugging Jin? I know I did. But oh well, it was a solid moment and im glad theyre finally back together.

It seems like we now have our 'last recruit.' Jack gets struck by one of the missiles that Widmore camp shoots over, but Locke(Smokey) pulls Jack away and saves him. Locke(Smokey) seems to think that Jack is now on his side and that his plan is working out perfectly. Im not so sure thats the case though... because Jack has no plans to leave the island now, but Locke(Smokey) said he needs all the Ajira people to go off the island together. Interesting....

Next week we have our first and ONLY repeat of the season. But it is Ab Aeterno so thats not a bad thing. In 2 weeks we resume new episodes with Ep. 14- The Candidate. Finally we may know who it is thats going to replace Jacob... but then again, we probably wont find out at all. Until next time......

LOST Season 6 Episode 12 "Everybody Loves Hugo"

Well i got my answer immediately as to whether or not all the characters would be having "love visions." Libby had hers about Hurley, and even though she was crazy... Hurley still believed her. Maybe because in the other time line he was crazy and understood she could be telling the truth? Anyway, he went on a beach date with her, which is what they were suppose to do on the island before she died. Hurley kissed her and saw his love vision with her in it. All the dominoes are starting to fall into place here.

Im disappointed in Illana getting blown up because she was being hyped as such an important character who has many answers, but I guess the island was done with her- and BAM she was instantly gone.

We got another glimpse at a little boy in the jungle, and this time it was a dark haired boy. Im pretty sure that there are two kids- a blonde and a dark haired one. I think one his Jacob and one is MIB. Now as for why they are showing up as kids... i have no clue?

I thought Locke(Smokey) was going to ask Desmond to turn the frozen wheel for him, but out of nowhere he pushes him down there and Desmond is history. Im positive he is still alive, but we will see what happens with him in the next episode I am sure.

I think Hurley made a good call blowing up the Black Rock and ruining all the dynamite. The Black Rock served its purpose and it was a fitting end for the ship that we all have been wondering about for the last six years. Now the Ajira plane wont be blown up, so maybe Smokey will get what he wants. Thanks Hurley.

The final island scene was an epic one. Jack and Locke(Smokey) finally staring at each other eye to eye. I wish it was the real John Locke staring eye to eye with Jack though. Both camps are together and all hell is going to break loose.

The last scene was a shocker. Desmond nailing Locke and driving away. At first I was confused by this, but now think its Desmond making sure every character sees there vision of when they were on the island, or when they were in the other time line. As we know, it takes a very intense moment for the character to see his/her vision. Claire almost dying on the plane, Desmond when his car went into the water, Hurley when he kisses Libby, etc.

Next week's episode is called, "The Last Recruit" and will focus on pretty much everyone in the alt time line. I think we will see the final piece of MIB army come together as he will probably get one more recruit to fight for him in the war. Hence, The Last Recruit. Until next time......

LOST Season 6 Episode 11 "Happily Ever After"

Im going to have to make this post short since my laptop is in the shop getting repaired. I loved this episode featuring the return of Desmond. It was very interesting now that we know characters are getting flashes of the people they loved on the island. I think we finally have a tie-in now with how the two time lines are going to come together. Charlie saw Claire... Dez saw Penny... will Hurley see Libby? and who the heck will Kate see?

I have no idea what Widmore is trying to do to Desmond by putting him in that chamber. I understand the ties to all the electromagnetism but i dont know why its important now. Is Widmore gonna make Desmond time travel again? Maybe onto the other time line? Is that how he got on the plane in the season premiere?

Did anyone notice in Widmore's office there was no longer a picture of a polar bear, but now a picture of a scale that resembled the one that MIB and Jacob are using on the island. Very interesting...

And how strange was Eloise Hawking acting? I know shes always been weird, but i need to watch that scene with her again because some of the stuff she was saying went way over my head. But as always with LOST, it will probably make perfect sense after we watch a few more episodes.

Desmond seeing Penny was a great scene, and at the end Desmond told the limo driver he was going to need the list of people on Oceanic 815, i wonder what Desmond is planning on doing? Maybe visiting everyone to see if they are having visions as well? Either way, it looks obvious now that Desmond is going to be the one to tie the time lines together. Which is what I originally thought was going to happen.

Next week's episode is called "Everybody Loves Hugo" and obviously the alt time line will focus on Hurley. Until next time....

LOST Season 6 Episode 10 "The Package"

As many of us suspected after the season premiere, Sun and Jin aren't married in the alternate timeline. What I didn't see coming, however, is that Sun truly doesn't know English in the flash sideways. I'd thought she was just feigning ignorance when she was questioned by security after Jin was caught with the bag o' money. But if they were never married and he never was a crappy husband and she never wanted to take off on her own, then she had no reason to learn English, I guess.

Again were reminded that even though Oceanic 815 didnt crash, that many of these people's lives would still be the same: Keamy is killed and Mikhail gets his eye blown off. Sun gets shot in the stomach and has to be taken to the hospital. This again is starting to confirm my theory that everyone is going to end up at St. Sebastian's hospital where Jack works and once they are all there something big will happen.

On the island, Widmore's people steal Jin and make him experience Room 23 for a short bit. They then show him a map that could have some importance on it.

Another moment that caught my eye was when Locke(Smokey) and Widmore finally met up. Locke said, "A wise man once told me war is coming to the island." This would be another example of Smokey recalling original thoughts of the real John Locke, because when Locke turned the wheel and met Widmore in the hospital, Widmore told him that exact quote.

Next weeks episode is called, "Happily Ever After" and will feature the return of Desmond, as we in fact saw him at the end of this episode.

LOST Season 6 Episode 9 "Ab Aeterno"

Well ladies and gentlemen, this was an episode I had been looking forward to ever since they released the title and centric character many weeks ago. A Richard Alpert episode that would hopefully give us the full history of why he is the man he is today. I also wanted a lot of information about how Jacob and the Man in Black(Smokey) started everything way back then.

... And holy crap did this episode ever deliver everything I wanted and more.

In case anyone wasnt aware, the episode title "Ab Aeterno" is a latin term and it means "since the beginning of time." And boy did they ever stick to that title because we went way back to the beginning of time in 1867 and saw Richard Alpert riding a horse trying to save his wife, Isabella's life. We found out why Richard was a slave on the Black rock ship, and how lucky he was that he learned just enough English not to be hanged. All the slaves were under the impression that they were going to hell and even thought that the Statue on the island was the devil. The Black Rock crushed the statue when it crashed on the island answering yet another question that we all had about how the statue got destroyed.

There are a lot of debates going on about whether or not this ship was the ship we saw coming to the island in the Season 5 finale when we saw Jacob and MIB (Man in Black/Smokey) having their first televised conversation. I think it was the Black Rock in both instances, because we have seen many times the sky go from daytime to nighttime or vice versa right before people crashed on the island (For Example: The Ajira Flight that the Oceanic 6 came back on). Whether or not it is the same ship is irrelevant anyway, the only thing that matters is that the Black Rock is ship wrecked and Richard is now the only one left alive thanks to Smokey wiping everyone else out.

I think a key discovery I made in this episode tells us how Smokey takes the form of so many people. We know that if someone is dead Smokey can take his body and become that person (For example: John Locke).. Well on the Black Rock we see Smokey come up to Richard and start flashing at him almost like taking photographs of him. I believe this is Smokey getting inside Richards head and getting images from his head... so Smokey got the image of Isabella from Richard's head and eventually turned into her which would make it easier for him to manipulate Richard into killing Jacob. MIB(Smokey) eventually convinces Richard to kill Jacob with the knife and says the same quote that Illana told Ben when Ben was about to kill Smokey... "as soon as you see him stab him, dont let him say anything or it will be too late." Apparently both Smokey and Jacob can be very convincing with their words. Richard ends up talking to Jacob and during that conversation Jacob reveals some heavy stuff about the mysterious island...

Jacob says that the island acts as a CORK to keep evil out. when I heard this I immediately shouted at my TV... because we here at Po's basic knowledge blog accurately predicted the CORK theory several weeks ago, so if you scroll down this page you will see my theory on the CORK... go ahead and scroll down right now and read it, its located under the blog for episode 6 "Sundown"... go ahead and read it so you know I aint lying.. ill give you some time.. ready GO..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Ok now that you have read that, I can move on. After hearing all this about the CORK, it makes me wonder about the alternate timeline we have going on. If the island is indeed under-water like we saw in the season premiere, does that mean that the CORK(the island) has been destoryed and that "evil/Smokey" is out free in the world?? It will be interesting to see how all of this ties together, but for the first time all season I see a glimpse of how they could tie together the alternate time line with the real time line.

*** Random side theory: We all now know that Jacob lives under the Statue. It has always confused me then why he would have a cabin in the woods. I now think that all the scenes we saw with the cabin didnt have Jacob inside at all, but instead it was Smokey. This is why the cabin was surrounded by ash.. to make sure Smokey stayed inside. Maybe Smokey was trapped in there at certain times and that would explain how Jacob would be able to leave the island all the time like when he was out touching our Oceanic 6. It would also explain why Christian Shepard appeared in the cabin so many times (It was Smokey in his body). And may finally have answered the question of why we heard the mysterious "HELP ME" come from the cabin when Locke and Ben first went inside. I really hope they explain everything about "Jacob's" cabin. Because by turning into Christian Shepard and telling Locke he has to move the island it would prove that even when trapped by Jacob, Smokey was still manipulating people into doings things as part of his master plan to one day kill Jacob.

A lot of symbolic things going on at the end of this episode. Richard was going to go join Smokey, until Hurley and Isabella convinced Richard to stay with Team Jacob. And then the final scene when Jacob sat down with MIB(Smokey). I love the fact that these two always talk like they are best friends yet hate each other to death (Exchanging good mornings, always offering food to the other one, playing jokes on the other by handing each other white/black stones, etc). Jacob handed MIB the bottle of wine, and MIB said he would eventually figure out a way to kill Jacob... he then smashed the bottle of wine and shattered it which I think was symbolic of him killing Jacob, and seeing all the wine go free from the bottle was symbolic of MIB one day becoming free of the island. THE END.

Next Week's episode is called "The Package" and will tell the flash-sideways of Sun & Jin...

LOST Season 6 Episode 8 "Recon"

A stunner right off the bat here, Sawyer being a cop! Wow. And even though I know other characters are going to be tied into others flash-sideways, it was still a big surprise to see Miles working as Sawyer's partner. A very solid flash-sideways again this week, Sawyer is still on the hunt for Anthony Cooper and seems to have become a cop so he could easily track down the man responsible for making his life hell. I wonder if Sawyer will actually catch Anthony Cooper because of John Locke, much like the way Locke helped Sawyer kill Anthony Cooper on the island. Everyone keeps saying the flash-sideways are irrelevant, but each week the flash-sideways are tying into the island timeline more than people know. We see Sawyer track down Kate at the end of the episode, and he remembered her from the elevator at the airport. We also see a connection being re-established between Sawyer and Kate on the island, so similarities are happening here.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Widmore storyline off and running so soon. Normally they would show us Widmore coming to the island in one episode, and then we wouldnt see him again for 5-6 episodes, so seeing him right away was great. It would seem that Widmore knew that Sawyer would be coming to Hydra Island, as his people were expecting him to show up. Sawyer was captured and taken to Widmore where they made a deal that seemingly would set up Smokey(Locke) to be captured. I still cant tell who's side Widmore is on, but the upcoming confrontation with Smokey(Locke) is very enticing to me.

Well, it looks like we have another huge mystery developing here. There was a big focus on what was TRIPLE LOCKED in that room on Widmore's submarine. Sawyer stopped and asked what was in it, but of course we got no answer. Hopefully we get an answer sooner rather than later, but some preliminary guesses are that it could be a person?? Desmond? Or something that will be used to kill Smokey(Locke)? Who knows.

People seem to be questioning Sawyer's motivation in all this... what gets lost in all this chaos is the fact that Sawyer has actually been on the island the entire time- not many remaining sane people can say that. He originally crashed in 2004. Spent almost a year on the island before he started time traveling. Then spent 3 more years living in the Dharma Initiative. Then flashed back to 2007 after the bomb "went off". And now is trying to leave with Kate on the submarine. So Sawyer has been one of the few people who have been stuck on the island since Season 1.

Next weeks episode looks very interesting, and has been an episode I have been waiting for for a long time now. The back story behind the mysterious Richard Alpert will be revealed, and along with that maybe some long time mysteries of the island will be unleashed.

Good Luck to everyone on their March Madness bracket, and enjoy this openeing weekend of games because it truly is the most exciting weekend of the sports year. Until next time....

LOST Season 6 Episode 7 "Dr. Linus"

Sorry this blog is going to be so short, but I am currently on Spring Break and we finally have some good weather, so i barely have time to punch a blog out this week.

As always I really enjoyed the performance done by Michael Emerson this week. He has evolved so much from the evil, hated Ben Linus- to a guy who we all actually felt sorry for while watching him digging his own grave.

It was a very Season 1-like atmosphere at the end of the episode, seeing everyone reunite on the beach was very emotional and was a great way to end an episode... well ALMOST end the episode.

The episode ends with a submarine heading straight for the island. We look down into the submarine and there sits Charles Widmore!!! Holy crap what a stunner that turned out to be. Widmore has FINALLY found the island and I think he has something up his sleeve to create chaos. Some major storylines are about to unfold here people, just be patient.

LOST Season 6 Episode 6 "Sundown"

** Quick reminder- Po's Spring Break Poker Tourney is this Saturday March 6th @ 630pm, be there...

Onto this week's episode, big shocker right off the bat with Sayid's brother being married to Nadia. Everything else seemed to be the same about Sayid's past, including his love for Nadia. Very good to see Keamy back, and then dead within 5 minutes of appearing. I think Jin was captured because it had something to do with the watch that Mr Paik gave to Jin before he got on the Oceanic Plane. If you can remember from Season 1 they explained exactly what the watch meant so ill have to go back and watch that episode before they give us Jin and Sun's flash-sideways in a couple of weeks.

Now time for the on-island circus... Im very pissed that Sawyer was absent from another episode, usually when they keep a character off the show for a couple of weeks they always have something big planned for them so hopefully thats the case here. The week after next is a Sawyer episode so we may not see him until then.

I think the conversation between Sayid and Dogen in the temple was an interesting one. It was all about making choices and giving up things that you love for a greater cause. Dogen said Jacob saved his sons life so long as Dogen agreed to come to the island to serve his purpose. Sayid then said that Jacob drives a hard bargain, im not sure he even knew how true his own statement was because it was Jacob who touched Sayid right before Nadia was killed by the car.
This makes me wonder if Richard doesnt age because he made a deal with Jacob that if he came to the island Jacob would give him eternal life.

Pretty cool ending scene with Smokey going crazy and killing everyone he didnt like at the temple. Very powerful scene at the end with Smokey standing tall and his disciples following behind him. Clarie and Sayid have clearly been claimed and are now with Smokey... as for Kate, she just seemed to be following behind not really understanding what was going on. I dont think she has joined Smokey, I just think she is staying close to Claire because she wants Claire to go back to Aaron.

So it seems that our sides are becoming clear. Smokey, Claire, Sayid, (maybe Sawyer?), and the rest of the Others- against the group who hid in the temple walls... Illana, Lapidus, Sun, Ben, and whoever else is on the "good" side... Jack, Hurley, Jacob. Illana seems to know ALOT about the island and figures to be a very prominent character in future episodes.

Jacob knew in advance that madness was going to happen at the temple and thats why he got Hurley and Jack out of there. Jacob wants Jack to be the candidate that takes over on the island, and Jacob needs Hurley because Hurley is the only one who can communicate with Jacob now.

Random Side Theory: After listening to all of Smokies complaints about being trapped on the island, I think the island is acting as some kind of ''cork"(like on a champagne bottle) that keeps evil from going out into the real world. Thats why its so isolated and so difficult to travel to. This is a random theory that needs more support, but hopefully ill get it in future episodes.

Things are really going heat up in the next few episodes, as next week's episode is called "Dr. Linus" which seems to be referring to the fact that Ben is now a teacher in the flash-sideways.
After that we have a Sawyer episode and then a Richard episode, so the month of March is going to be a very interesting ride. See you all Saturday for my poker tourney, and next week for another episode of LOST- "Dr. Linus"

LOST Season 6 Episode 5 "Lighthouse"

Sorry for the blog coming out a day late people, but Ive been busy finishing up all my school work before Spring Break and making final preparations for my big Spring Break poker tournament. Only 8 more days til the poker tournament and hopefully everyone interested in playing gets a facebook invite by tomorrow when I send them out. Ill be writing a preview blog for this tournament since we have some interesting storylines beginning to unfold..

**Po's Spring Break poker tournament, Saturday March 6th @ 6:30pm**

Now its time to break down this week's LOST episode. Jack's flash-sideways was very interesting. I dont know what to make of the whole appendix scar that Jack saw on himself in the mirror. His mom said he had it out when he was just 7 yrs old, but im not sure if thats true...
And holy crap Jack has a son! They never showed us who the ex-wife was, but it has to still be Sara. Maybe the actor who plays Sara just wasnt available for filming because of her new role on Modern Family.
I love how Dogen just shows up out of nowhere in Jack's flash sideways as well...

As far as the on-island actions, is it just me or is Claire even hotter now that she is playing the bad girl. It just goes to show you how much she has changed, she just swings an ax and nails a guy in the chest with it. I think Claire will eventually end up figuring out what really happened to Aaron and will have a confrontation with Kate about it.

I have an interesting theory dealing with the names of the candidates on the wall. We know that Kate was the only one that Jacob touched who didnt appear on the wall as a candidate. I wonder if this is because Kate was brought to the island by Jacob to be "with" whoever the new candidate ended up being. Jacob touched Kate to make sure she got to the island, not to be a candidate, but to be at the side of the candidate and to make sure the island stays populated. Its really the only reason I can think of as to why Kate would be touched by Jacob but not on his wall of names.

Okay now its time to discuss the most important scene from this week's episode, the Lighthouse scene. Earlier in the episode Jacob told Hurley that someone was coming to the island and needed help finding their way. I think Jacob is talking about Desmond, all along I have thought that Desmond would be the one who ties everything together and maybe even ties the alternate timeline into the real timeline.
So Hurley and Jack go to the lighthouse and see the wheel of names and numbers. They show us pictures of things at each degree. The main point of this was for Jacob to show Jack that he really has been important to the island the entire time. I think after seeing that Jacob has been watching him for his entire life, it has now clicked with Jack that he plays a crucial part in how the story ends. Jack is probably even ready to die for the island now... not literally... well, maybe literally?

One quick scene that caught my eye was the scene with Hurley and Miles playing TIC TAC TOE... it always ends in a draw. Hmmm... I think this could be a clue into something that is going to happen in a future episode. I just dont think they would show this scene for no reason.

I know very soon we are going to get a Richard flashback, and if they show us the Black Rock coming to the island, I think that is going to make all hell break loose.

At the end of the episode, Smokey(Locke) walked into Claire's tent and Claire called him her "friend." Very scary.... and it looks like all of them are headed for the temple, which is going to get very interesting.

Next week's episode is called, "Sundown" and will focus on Sayid.. so maybe next week we find out if Sayid is going to get infected or not. We will find out next Tuesday at 9pm, until next time...

LOST Season 6 Episode 4 "The Substitute"

At this point you know the drill, so lets just jump right into this....
Tremendous episode delivered by LOST this week. Let me tell everyone a quick story that many of you may not have heard before. Three years ago during the filming of Season 3, Terry O'Quinn (the actor who plays John Locke) had a meeting with prodcuers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. During that meeting he said that he was unhappy with the way his character was being handled. He felt his character had no purpose and was slowly becoming irrelevant. The producers told him, much like they tell us fans, to just be patient. Even Terry O'Quinn couldnt have imagined what the producers had in store for him. Being patient has definitely paid off for both O'Quinn and the fans. The last two years of this show have basically been revolving around Terry O'Quinn. He has played the character of John Locke on the island, John Locke off the island, John Locke in an alternate timeline, and now a Smoke Monster form of John Locke.

The performance that I watched this past Tuesday by Terry O'Quinn was probably the best performance I have seen in all 6 seasons of watching this show. I feel like I am on the edge of my seat every time he is in a scene. Quotes like "What if I could answer the most important question in the world?" ... and "You're so close, itd be a shame to turn back now" really make me feel like were getting somewhere. I have a feeling that since he is portraying the smoke monster that he is going to be the one who reveals A LOT of island secrets in the coming episodes.

Speaking of the smoke monster, how cool was it to have a 'smokey cam' going on at the beginning. Hopefully we get more scenes from the viewpoint of the smoke monster flying around the jungle.

Lets tackle the issue of the little boy right now... we witnessed a few scenes with a random kid showing up out of nowhere. In the first shot his arms were covered in blood, and the second time he was being chased by Smokey and appeared to be getting bigger and bigger the closer Smokey got to him. "You cant kill him" has been a highly debated quote over the past couple of days. I tend to agree with the theory that its little Jacob telling Smokey he cant kill any of the candidates that Jacob brought to the island because of the rules. These are the same rules we hear about between Widmore and Ben after Ben's daughter is killed. I have a feeling we will be hearing more about the rules of the game that all these characters (Widmore-Ben, Smokey-Jacob) seem to be playing.

Speaking of Ben... absolutely hilarious seeing him as a nerdy High School teacher who is teaching European History and complaining about coffee filters. Too funny. It makes sense though why he is a teacher. The island is underwater in the alternate time line, we assume because the hydrogen bomb went of in 1977 in that time line. Therefore, Ben was never brought to the island as a boy by his Dad, and he would never be shot and never taken to the temple by Richard, so he never became that bad guy. He is just a dorky looking High School history teacher who has probably never killed anyone in his entire life.

Now time to talk about the candidates... we finally have full knowledge of what the numbers stand for, people! Smokey showed Sawyer Jacob's lists with the names of all the people he has brought to the island over the years. The names that were scratched out seems to be people are now dead and no longer candidates, hence Smokey crossing out Locke's name. Notice that Kate was not shown up on the wall, and all the numbers were accounted for too. Very interesting since we saw Jacob touch Kate when she was a little girl. Another comment that caught my ear was when Smokey said, "Kwon... im not sure if thats Sun or Jin. I think that he means Jin, which may mean that a candidate can only be male, which would explain why Kate isn't on the wall. Another theory is that when Jacob shows up at Jin/Sun marriage the camera clearly shows Jacob touch Jin but doesnt show him touching Sun, we just assumed that he touched both... which could explain why Sun is the ONLY one touched by Jacob who is not at the temple, and the ONLY one touched by Jacob who didnt flash to 1977 after the Ajira flight crashed.

The final scene was one of the most intense scenes we have ever seen in LOST. It felt good to see why exactly they were brought to the island, what Jacob's plan was for them, and what the numbers meant. I now think Smokey wants to actually leave the island, and he looks to be trying to manipulate one of the candidates in order to do so. Sawyer said he was going to help him, but hopefully sawyer is planning a nice long con and will turn out to be the one who ruins Smokey's ultimate plans in the end.

I think Smokey needs all the candidates on the island to be dead in order for him to be able to leave the island, because they are the "protector's" of the island. However, as were told by the little kid, he cannot kill them... much like he couldnt kill Jacob either. I think Smokey can only kill people if the judgment calls for it. Thats why we have seen Smokey judge people in the past (Eko and Ben). He killed Eko, but let Ben live. So because of this Smokey had to find a loophole and get someone else to kill Jacob. So if he needs other people to kill the candidates that would explain why he may be building an army of "claimed, sick" people in the upcoming war that Widmore and Bram told us was coming. We shall see....

**Side Note: Ive been thinking about the whole Desmond on the plane scene from Episode 1, he was on the plane then seemed to disappear and we never saw him get off the plane. Daniel Faraday told us back in Season 5 that the rules of time travel dont apply to Desmond because he is special. We also saw how Desmond's consciousness jumped from 2004 to 1996 in Season 4 during "The Constant" episode. What if Desmond randomly flashed onto the Oceanic plane in the alternate time line for some reason. It would explain how he just disappear, because he flashed on and then flashed off the plane. What was his purpose on the plane though? He seemed to have disappeared right after Jack saved Charlie's life. Interesting...

Before I wrap it up I just wanna announce that in 2 weeks, Saturday March 6th, I will be hosting another big poker tourney at the house. I think its Spring Break for most of the college kids, and im lettin everyone know early because last time a couple of you told me that you wanted to play but couldnt get off work on that short of notice. A facebook group will be made next week sometime so be on the lookout for that. Hopefully we can get as many people as we had last time...

Thats all for this week's episode... next week's episode is called "Lighthouse" and will focus on Jack. See you all next week...

LOST Season 6 Episode 3 "What Kate Does"

Not the best episode LOST has ever put on the air, but that was expected after such a hyped up 3-hour season premiere. This episode is getting a lot of negative publicity, but I think this was just a transition episode which is laying the groundwork for a fantastic storyline.

When they first started testing Sayid I think they were testing to see if he was the smoke monster, thats why they blew the ash over his body. Then they tested to see if he was "sick." That was the overall theme of this episode: "The Sickness." If you recall from last season's episode when we met Danielle Rousseau's French team, you would remember that Rousseau's entire team was attacked by the smoke monster and then eventually she killed them all because she claimed that they were "sick" ever since the smoke monster attacked them. Im wondering if Rousseau herself got sick too which turned her into the crazy woman she ended up being.

I cannot complain about how the episode ended though, a great ending seeing Claire return and looking exactly like Rousseau. Those traps that were set in the jungle that Kate almost tripped over were set by Claire. Apparently she was "claimed" and got sick. This sickness goes to your heart and changes the kind of person you are, which is certainly true because the old Claire would never hurt a fly let alone openly shoot and kill two guys with a rifle. The similarities between Claire and Rousseau are stunning: they look exactly the same now with Claire's new hair, they both seemingly went crazy and started setting traps all over the jungle, both walked around with a rifle, and most importantly both lost their babies! Its still unclear how Claire was separated from Aaron, but nonetheless she doesnt have him anymore. The last time we saw Claire she saw her dad, Christian, and went away with him while leaving Aaron behind. Im pretty sure Smokey was in Christian Shepard's body when he took Claire away, thus making her "sick." Speaking of Aaron, remember when Rousseau kept telling Claire that her baby was infected? Hmmm...

There were many mentions by the Japanese guy saying people get sick, and it goes to there heart after they get "claimed." Here is what I think is happening on our wonderful island... In last year's episode "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" we saw a conversation between Charles Widmore and John Locke. During this conversation Widmore said "There is a war coming!" We heard the same thing when Bram kidnapped Miles in that van.
We heard the Japanese guy say its very important that all of our Losties stay at the temple and stay together. If no one has noticed, everyone Jacob touched is at the temple right now. So I look at the people he touched as Jacob recruiting his "army"... to counter this I feel like Smokey is trying to build an "army" as well, and he is doing this by making certain people sick in order to make them become evil and help him. Thats what is happening to Sayid, and is also what the Japanese guy told Jack, "that is what happened to your sister." Obviously referring to the fact that Claire was claimed and got sick. This seems to have been a war that has been brewing for a long long long time now. This would explain Jacob's comment in the Season 5 finale when he said, "It only ends once, anything else is just progress." Progressively Jacob has been selecting his people for a war against Smokey, and after hundred's of years of trying it seems he finally has brought the right people to the island. It will only end once when the inevitable war comes to blows. This could also be why everyone kept saying the Oceanic 6 were never suppose to leave and that there work was not finished.

In the season premiere Smokey(Locke) said that he wanted to go home. I think by this he means the temple. Smokey wants to live in the temple but currently it is being run by the Japanese guy and his team who seem to be connected with Jacob. Thats why the Japanese guy told Sawyer that it was very important that he not leave the temple. I think the culmination of this season and the series will be the one final battle between Jacob's army and Smokey's army. Obviously there will be a lot more to this storyline if it happens, but who knows its just my best theory from what I have been watching.

As far as the alternate timeline is concerned I thought it was very well done. Kate has absolutely no growth when it comes to on-island, I like her more in this timeline. Everyone is talking about how unrealistic it would be for Claire to get in a taxi with someone who pointed a gun at her, but when you think about it its really not that far fetched. Claire's emotional status was terrible at that time... she is about to go give up her baby to a couple in LA, her Dad left her and is now dead, her Mom is in a coma from a car crash that she caused, and the father of her baby left her when she was pregnant. She was just looking for someone to hang on to and trust. Again, they're trying to show us that these people were destined to be involved in each other's lives whether there was a plane crash or not. Kate seemed to be having a lot of deja vu tonight. When she saw Jack outside the airport she looked at him for a while, when she heard Claire scream "Aaron" she had another shocked look on her face. Interesting.

One very interesting bit of information I discovered was in the scene where Claire was looking at the picture of her ultrasound, the camera showed the top of the ultrasound for a split second and the date on the top of the ultrasound was OCTOBER 22, 2004!!!!! If you remember, the original Oceanic Airlines flight was on SEPTEMBER 22, 2004. So if the ultrasound had the real date on it, then the flight that landed in LAX was a month later than the original Oceanic 815 flight, I wonder if they were even flying on Flight 815???

That is all for this week's episode, make sure to view the blog next week as we will have a full recap on Season 6 Episode 4 "The Substitute." This is a Locke episode and should deal with the things that are happening over at the statue, so I am very excited for that. Until next time....
